San Martin St. Compound, Katamon, Jerusalem

On the edge of Old Katamon, the San Martin Compound replaces 90 existing apartments in four low-cost row buildings with 336 new apartments in three 30-story towers.

The design maximizes the narrow, crescent-shaped site by creating arcaded commercial fronts and two entry squares leading to a pedestrian promenade that connects to upper residential areas and nearby civic buildings. A separate plot is designated for a small public facility serving both the compound and surrounding neighborhood.

The façades employ a stone-and-glass integration, blending residential and commercial elements into a unified architectural language. This design expresses a modern vertical community within Jerusalem’s urban fabric.
