St George's School, Jerusalem

St. George compound is the largest of Jerusalem’s religious and civic institutions built at the turn of the 19th century along Nablus Road, the historical north entrance to the Old City.

On Nablus Road across St. George’s compound main courtyard, surrounded by a wall, a school and playgrounds was built to serve Jerusalem’s population. The significant expansion of the school with some 4000 m2 of classrooms, laboratories, common and sport facilities addresses East Jerusalem’s growing need for educational facilities. Echoing the compound’s unique colonial Tudor architecture, classrooms and common facilities are arranged around a major enclosed courtyard and connected by two-level arcades and stone sunscreens.
