Margalith House, Jerusalem

The building is located in the neighborhood of the German Colony in Jerusalem, yet typified by its original restrained architecture from the 2nd half of the 19th century, exemplified both in its large and small buildings. The building’s contemporary design addresses some of the neighborhood motifs: simple volumes, subtle balance between fenestrations and the massive wall and the contrast between the private and the public domains. The program of four dwelling units in a two-family house becomes unnoticed, so that the building blends in its contextual surrounding.
